I am already TRI and I wanna be TRI on Challenger 300/350 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you are already a holder of a Type Rating Instructor certificate for any other aeroplane type, you can become the TRI Challenger 300 / 350 by extending your TRI privileges to CL30. The procedure is so-called TRI type-extension in accordance with FCL.910.TRI(b)(2).
Flight school will consider your previous instructional experience and based on the assessment they will setup relevant TRI training. This is so-called competency-based training In accordance with FCL.910.TRI(a)(2) the applicant for TRI type extension is required to attend so-called relevant TRI training. GM1 FCL.910.TRI(a)(2) describes the Relevant parts of the TRI technical training and the flight instruction parts of the applicable TRI training course’ means that the training should be relevant to its purpose, taking into consideration the experience of the individual TRI on other aircraft types that are similar to the CL30 variants.
SFI to become TRI Challenger 300 / 350
Should you are a holder od SFI CL30 willing to become a TRI Challenger 300 / 350 - you will obtain the TRI administratively once you meet the pre-requisites (15 route segments in 12 months). In such case if you as a SFI CL30 apply to your issuing authority - you will be issued TRI on Challenger 300 / 350 with restriction to provide the flight training towards CL30 in simulator only. That is so-called FSTD restricted TRI. In order to extend the privileges of your new CL30 TRI to provide LIFUS or Base training on Bombardier CL30, you will be required to attend additional training.
This is granted by FCL.930.TRI(c). An applicant for a TRI certificate who holds an SFI certificate for the CL30 shall be fully credited towards the requirements of this paragraph for the issue of a TRI certificate restricted to flight instruction in simulators.
TRI Extension - training for TRI or SFI
An Instructor is authorized to instruct towards the TRI CL30 or SFI CL30 certificates provided he meets the requirements of FCL.905.TRI(b). Instructor has to have at least 50 hours of instructional experience as a TRI or SFI in accordance with this Part-FCL or Ec 965/2012. In addition he has conducted the flight instruction syllabus of the relevant part of the TRI training course according to point FCL.930.TRI(a)(3) to the satisfaction of the head of training of an ATO.
Restricted and Unrestricted TRI Challenger 300 / 350
Frequent question is - What is the difference between FSTD restricted TRI CL30 and so-called unrestricted TRI. Answer is very simple. The main difference is that unrestricted TRI CL30 can provide flight training directly in real CL30 aeroplane. The flight training in this case means the real training towards the typerating or renewal of typerating. Since this is not applicable for Challenger 300 / 350, you will cover all of the trianing activities on Bombardier CL30 with your restricted TRI.
It is important to note that also restricted TRI CL30 can also provide the training in aeroplane such as LIFUS and Base training.

- flight training restricted to LIFUS: TRI/r LIFUS (LIFUS = Line Flying under Supervision)
