For how long is the EASA type rating valid?

Type rating is valid 12 months

In accordance with Ec 1178/2011, paragraph FCL.740(a) the validity of a type rating is 12 months (1 year). It is important to mention that this is only the validity endorsed in the flight crew license. In addition to the license endorsement in most of the cases the type-related instrument rating is also valid together with the type rating. The type-related instrument rating is usually revalidated together with the type rating itself.

Exercising of the license endorsement is usually conditioned by further requirements and regulatory limitations as follows:

 

Operator Proficiency Check

The operator proficiency check for particular type is valid 6 mesiacov - it is however not endorsed in the flight crew license.

Differences Training

In accordance with FCL.710(d) - if a pilot have not flown on particular variant for more than 2 years (24 months) additional differences training is required. Additional operator proficiency check may also be required (depending on the aircraft type and OSD). There is no license endorsement for differences training.

Recent Experience

In accordance with FCL.060 - unless otherwise instructed by OSD for partiular type it is necessary to fly at least 3 take-offs and landings on the particular type within the period of 90 days.
