Freelance examiner is a standard
Many EASA Examiners provide their services outside the flight schools and training centers. Regulation Ec 1178/2011 requires the EASA examiner - that includes also freelance Type Rating Examiner and freelance Synthetic Flight Examiner to act freely and independently. The freelance EASA examiner has no direct employment or financial connection with the flight school or training center.
The freelance examiner usually provides his services in several places and travels to perform the checkrides at different places or in different simulator centers.
